Parrot Dust Control

Uncontrolled parrot dust is one of the biggest health risks for pet birds and their owners. In the wild this dust would dissipate into the atmosphere or the birds would be free to fly away.

Neither is true for those who live their lives in our homes.

All parrots are not created equal when it comes to the amount of dust they produce. The African Grey, Cockatoo, and Cockatiel produce the most dust.

This is a natural part of their growth and development and helps keeps their wings healthy.

But unless this dust is constantly filtered from the air, it will eventually clog their tiny air passages and make it easier for disease and infection to gain control.

Because birds instinctively hide symptoms of illness, generally by the time owners recognize that their bird is not well, it is often too late to reverse their condition.

And for humans, constantly breathing these particulates can exacerbate allergies, asthma and other respiratory conditions. And cause problems for those who were healthy.

Filtering the air with multiple filters for particles is the best way to continually minimize dust, dander and other household pollutants that will cause their health to suffer.

The best type of filter for reducing particulates is a high efficiency particle arresting (or HEPA) filter. In order to receive this designation, the filter must be able to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particles that are .3 microns or larger.

In order to keep this filter from filling prematurely, a purifier that is to be effective at controlling parrot dust should have other filters that can trap particles of varying size. This saves the HEPA for microscopic pollutants and saves you from having to change filters frequently.

Control African Grey Dust

If you have an African Grey Parrot , you have a beautiful, smart, and dusty bird. The white powder that settles over everything can be daunting. The dust is a never ending process that helps support the health of their wings.

Not only is the dust unsightly, but unhealthy for you and your bird. Continually breathing air that is thick with particles can clog their incredibly tiny air passages.

Clogged airways often allow disease and infection to gain a foothold. And unfortunately it is often impossible to reverse the disease.

For humans this powder can aggravate existing respiratory problems such as allergies and asthma, and it can also cause problems for those who formerly had none.

Filtering the air is the best, most reliable, yet non-invasive way to reliably take particles, odors, and gases out of the air before they affect your bird’s health. And it is important that the air cleaner be able to effectively eliminate both gaseous and particulate pollutants.

The Bird Dust Air Purifier from Purer Air.com is specifically designed with 4 filters to target particles that vary in size from those you can see down to those that are sub-micron in size. And because the 4th filter is carbon cloth, it can remove both gaseous pollutants as well as particulates.

Not only is this air cleaner used by thousands of homeowners with African Grey Parrots and other powder down birds, but it is also used by commercial aviaries such as the Aviary at Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, Florida and the Joshua Rescue Foundation for Birds.
