Reducing African Grey Dust

African Grey parrots are some of the most gorgeous birds in the world.  They are not only good-looking, but intelligent, and many are able to speak with understanding.

But if you have one of these birds, I know I'm preaching to the choir.

Like all warm-blooded creatures they shed dander, but because they are powder-down birds, they also shed a white powder that can be daunting to control.

So between the normal household particles, the dander, and the additional wing dust that they create, the number of particles increases exponentially because of their presence.
Unless this dust is continually removed, the air will become clogged with particles making it impossible to get a clean breath of air.
Because their air passages are so small, continually breathing these particles will cause their airways to become constricted.  This is very often the start of disease and infection that is often impossible to reverse.
These additional particles can also cause problems for healthy humans and can exacerbate respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergies.
The only way to keep air quality high and particulate levels low is to continually filter the air with a high efficiency particle arresting filter.
This type of filter is not only efficient but safe.  By definition it must be able to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particles that are .3 microns or greater in size.
The only by-product this type of filtration produces is clean air.  There are no worries about ionized particles or ozone.
PurerAir.com offers the Bird Dust Air Purifier that has a 4-stage filtration process to trap particles ranging from the visible to invisible.
If you have an African Grey, you owe it to you and your bird to clear the air.  See the Bird Dust Air Purifier from PurerAir.com now at http://purerair.com/bird_dust_air_purifier.html

Allergies Triggered by Birds

Birds are one of the most popular pets in the United States. They are also one of the fiercest causes of allergies. Generally it is the protein in the dander that causes people to have such strong reactions---sneezing, coughing, watery eyes, and congestion.

And since these dead skin flakes (dander) attach to feathers, dried pieces of feces, and other more normal household pollutants like dust, it is difficult to get control of air quality.

The best way to keep bird dust and dander down, and air quality high is to filter the air continually. Bird-related pollutants are constant and if you are going to be able to get your allergies under control, filtration needs to be constant as well.

The best type of filter for particles like dander, dust, and feathers is a HEPA filter. High efficiency particles arresting filters are able to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 particles that are .3 microns or greater, with a micron being defined as one millionth of a meter.

Managing Bird Allergies

There is nothing more heart breaking than adopting a bird only to find that constant exposure sends your allergies into overdrive. Before you begin to try to find a new home for your bird (perish the thought) here are a few suggestions that will reduce the number of allergens to which you are exposed.

Other than completely avoiding your bird, the next best thing is to reduce the number of triggers to which you are exposed. Wear a mask while you clean with a damp cloth and mop to keep the particles from going airborne again.

You can further remove those particles that do go airborne (and nothing will get rid of all of them) by continuously filtering the air with a HEPA or high efficiency particle arresting air cleaner. This type of filter removes bird dust and dander as well as other household pollutants such as household dust.

It’s important to remove these pollutants before they can clog your bird’s air passages. Their airways are so small that it does not take much to cause a blockage. This often leads to disease and infection, and the results are often hard to reverse.

PurerAir.com offers an allergy air purifier designed to remove both bird-related pollutants and other common allergy triggers.

Bird Dust Allergies Solution

If you have opened your home and your heart to a powder down bird such as an African Grey, Cockatoo, or Cockatiel you know first hand about the white powdery dust they generate. If you also find that you are allergic to this dust, you are in an awful predicament.

You love your bird and can’t bear the thought of finding another home for it, and yet you find it difficult to breathe in the bird room because of the dust. Unfortunately, the dust will be around for as long as you have your bird, but the good news is that by constantly filtering the air in your bird’s room, you can greatly reduce the amount of airborne dust that is available for you and your bird to inhale.

When you inhale the dust and dander, the protein that is present is likely the cause for sending your allergies into overdrive. When you bird inhales this dust and dander, it clogs their already tiny air passages and clogged airways very often lead to disease and infections that can greatly reduce your bird’s lifespan.

PurerAir.com offers an economical and efficient air purifier that can reduce the bird dust and dander in your air. We continue to supply these purifiers to professionals at Joshua Rescue Foundation and the aviary at Theater of the Sea in Islamorada Florida to name a few.
