Eliminating Bird Dander Effectively

If you have a bird you realize how much your feathered friend is depending on you to provide a healthy and stimulating atmosphere. In the wild the additional particles of dander (flakes of dead skin), feathers, and dust dissipate into the air.

The birds are also able to fly to various locations so they are not forced to breathe air that is clogged with particles.

In your well insulated home these bird-related particles will remain in the air unless you take steps to actively remove them.

Dander is not good for your bird to breathe because it clogs their air passages. This restricts the amount of oxygen they receive, and can cause the onset of disease and infection.

Dander is not good for humans for many of the same reasons. In addition, the protein in the dander is a potent and well-known allergen to which many people are sensitive. Exposure to large amounts of dander for prolonged periods of time can cause even those who were not formerly sensitive to become so.

Because of its small size, these flakes of skin are hardly visible, but your bird’s normal activities such as preening, flying, flapping its wings or just playing with a toy can send these fine particles into the air in addition to dust, and bits of feathers.

Continually filtering the air is the best way to effectively clean the air for you and your bird. A HEPA (or high efficiency particle arresting) filter is the best type of filter to eliminate airborne particles. This technology is designed to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 particles that are .3 microns or larger.

This means that not only the dander and other bird-related pollutants are removed but other normal household pollutants too. These include dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, seasonal pollens, and bacteria and viruses.

PurerAir.com offers a portable, plug-in air purifier that offers a 4-stage filtration process. This cleaner continues to be used by professional aviaries such as the Joshua Rescue Foundation for Birds and the Theater of the Sea Aviary in Islamorada, Florida.

If it works in aviaries, it will surely work for you. See it now at http://purerair.com/bird_dander_air_purifier.html
