Seasonal Airborne Allergies

If you suffer because of pollen that is produced by trees, grasses, or weeds, there is a good chance that you can struggle with symptoms year round.

Depending on the climate where you live, tree pollen can start as early as January, and weed pollen can last until the first frost in late November or early December.

There is nothing to be done about the pollen. That’s nature’s way of replenishing the earth. And moving from one location to another is not likely to help very much since the wind can take pollen hundreds of miles from its origin.

The best thing you can to do is pick your times to be outside during peak seasons, and make your indoor air a haven. Filtering your air indoors continually is the most proactive and non-invasive way to keep air quality high while the pollen is raging outdoors.

The best type of filter to eliminate particles like pollen is a HEPA or high efficiency particle arresting filter. By definition it must be able to remove 99,997 out of every 10,000 airborne particulates that are .3 microns in size or larger. This includes pollens and there’s more good news.

This type of filter really doesn’t care about the source of the particulate, only the size. That means that more usual pollutants such as dust, dust mites, mold and mildew spores, pet dander, and bacteria and viruses can all be eliminated.

PurerAir.com offers a stand-alone allergy air purifier that has a medical grade HEPA as well as 3 other filter for particles. It contains a large and medium particle pre-filter. These keep the filter for microscopic size pollutants from filling up unnecessarily.

The canister of filters in the unit also contains carbon cloth which gives dual protection. Because it is made of carbon it can eliminate gases and odors which can also trigger allergies. And because this filter is woven like a cloth, it gives additional protection against airborne particulates.
